This base network is a topological and geometrically structured network that maps the four transport modes of rail, road, cable and water in a multimodally linked manner and does not contain any further technicalities. It serves as a common denominator for referencing and linking spatial transport and mobility data, regardless of whether these are available in geometrically or technically detailed or aggregated form.
